Alanna Coby is a playwright, performer, producer, and teaching artist living in Brooklyn, NY.  In New York her work has been supported by SITI Company, Mabou Mines, The Drama League, Dixon Place, and IRT Theater. She is a proud founding member of The Syndicate, an ensemble theatre company that produces new plays by women, queer and trans artists. Alanna is currently pursuing an MFA in Dramatic Writing at New York University.


Alanna is currently writing Take Me For the Mountain, a new play loosely based on the myth of Phaedra, and Big Dead Bird, an adaptation of Our Town that addresses the current opioid crisis in the United States. Most recently, she worked with the Syndicate to produce First Read Chicago, and in September 2018 she served as lead writer forTiny Errors at the End of the Millennium, which was performed as part of Syndicated.


Alanna has written for The Rumpus and The Art of Hustle, and she is also the writer and creator of satire cooking blog Cooking Rage, and Ugly Comics, an online comic series. As a teaching artist she has worked with students of all ages at Presidio Dance in San Francisco and the Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute for young women in Irvington, New York, teaching theatre and writing workshops.
