I write plays for women who are upset, women who are confused, and men who have been told their entire lives that women aren’t funny. I believe that gender is sometimes an illusion and always a performance.
I write about women’s issues like white supremacy, misogyny, Judaism, motherhood, the perils of living online, and the complicated tapestry of human behaviors that are developing as we navigate a climate-changed world. I am interested in joy, profound theatricality, violence, and puppets.
I use humor because it’s my favorite way to enter into conversations about extremely difficult social topics without bumming everyone out, and because I think the only way to entice most people into listening to a woman is to make them laugh until they cry.
